As a Beardsman, you may want to be careful when buying beard oil... Sure you can buy a cheap bottle of oil for a buck or two, no different than you can buy a cheap plastic comb…but that cheap plastic comb will literally kill your beard and the oil may not be any better... Remember Amazon and other big box stores are not always the best choice.
Ask yourself these questions before you buy beard oil:
- Is this company reputable?
With hundreds of new “Beard Companies”, you want to make sure you’re dealing with a legitimate company. Are they just trying to make a buck or are they passionate about the bearded lifestyle? There is a bearded community out there. Go find it. Some are local and some are nationwide, but those legitimate companies will be involved in that community.
2. What about the ingredients?
You want to know you can rely on the ingredients being safe to use. Make sure you verify before letting it get close to your skin and beard. Always test any oil-based product on the back of your hand to make sure it is safe! Not all ingredients are native to the USA. If you have questions, reach out to that company. Ask before you buy!
3. Are the oils all-natural?
There is an ever-going list of all-natural oils. Most of the time you should look for Argan, Jojoba, and Fractionated Coconut-based oils. Avocado and sweet almond are nice alternatives as well but always make sure they are ALL NATURAL! If there is water or alcohol in a beard oil, Avoid it at all costs!
